Due to the bridge construction project on East Broad Street, voters in Tamaqua's Precinct 3 will see a temporary change in polling site. Instead of the Tamaqua ABC High Rise, the voting place has been changed to Tamaqua Borough Hall, 320 E. Broad St.

Any voter who will find it difficult to travel to borough hall may apply for an absentee ballot. Applications are available at the ABC High Rise, the office of state Rep. Jerry Knowles and at the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce office.Week of prayerThe Tamaqua Salvation Army will be opening its prayer room for a continuous 24 hour/7-day period during the week of Sept. 22-28. The continual week of prayer is part of a Salvation Army worldwide effort to bathe participating communities, and the world, in prayer.Each of the Salvation Army's Network of Prayer Rooms is pledging to pray for 24 hours a day for a specific week, carrying the "baton of prayer" from location to location.Tamaqua's event will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 22 at 105 W. Broad St. The public is welcome to participate and may schedule a time by calling (570) 668-0410.Heritage FestivalThe Tamaqua Historical Society's Heritage Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to p.m. on Oct. 13. Broad St., every Tuesday and Thursday. Volunteers will meet at Tamaqua Borough Hall, 320 E. Broad St., by 9 a.m. for supplies.Summer concertsThanks to Mother Nature, the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce's free Summer Concert Series has been extended into fall. The final concert in the series, featuring Large Flower Heads, has been rescheduled for Sept. 26. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.Also this Sunday, the youth group will meet at 9:15 a.m., in the social hall.
