Diabetes support

St. Luke's University Health Network is sponsoring a Diabetes Support Group. Monthly meetings are held in the Miner's Cafe at the health network's Miners Hospital Campus in Coaldale.Each month, a different diabetes relevant topic is explored. Topics are based on ways to improve blood sugar control and quality of life. Meetings are generally 45 minutes long and include a question and answer period.This month's meeting will be held on Sept. 17. Reservations are not required. For more information, call (570) 645-8107.Cancer studyThe American Cancer Society is seeking volunteers to take part in a Cancer Prevention Study. In an effort to better understand how to prevent cancer, the study will follow a select group of volunteers willing to make a long-term commitment, which includes completing survey forms into the future.The study group will be composed of men and women between the ages of 30 and 65, who have never been diagnosed with cancer.An enrollment session will be held Sept. 17 at the LCCC Morgan Center on High Street.For more information, or to schedule an appointment, visit
