A domestic dispute in Tamaqua on Tuesday landed a man in the Schuylkill County Prison, just days after he moved into a rental property at 233 Race St., Tamaqua.

Officers were dispatched to that address at 9:40 p.m. to deal with a man who was reportedly choking a woman. On scene, Patrolman Karl Harig found all appeared to be calm, as the parties involved had gone separate ways. The victim was inside the home, while the alleged assailant was outside, speaking to the landlord. After interviewing all the parties involved, as well as witnesses, Harig determined that Fungai "Mike" Mugwindiri, 40, apparently became involved in an argument with his girlfriend, Annabelle Padilla, over her agreeing to baby-sit for her friend's children. Mugwindiri, who admitted to drinking alcohol, threatened bodily harm to the two children, ages 5 and 7, as well as the two women. He also threatened to use C4 to blow up the house.At this point, the landlord arrived to talk about the lease. Padilla went out to meet the landlord and sat in his car. At this point, Mugwindiri also went to the vehicle, opened the door and began choking the woman until the landlord intervened.Mugwindiri was arrested and arraigned before duty District Judge James Ferrier on charges of making terroristic threats and simple assault. Bail was set at $10,000 straight cash bond. Unable to post bail, he was incarcerated in the county prison in Pottsville.A routine records check determined there was an active warrant for Mugwindiri, issued in Lehigh County.
