Organizers seek photos of loved ones for Alzheimer's Wall

Coordinators of the Alzheimer's Family Fun Festival & Walk are reaching out to families who wish to share their memories and bring recognition to someone with Alzheimer's disease.

The organization is seeking photographs of loved ones, along with his or her name, for inclusion on the "Wall of Memories," a banner honoring those from the local area with Alzheimer's disease."We want to share local faces of those stricken with Alzheimer's disease," says Kathy Ruff, one of the coordinators of the festival and walk. "The banner helps us to make people aware of this devastating disease and its effect on family, friends and neighbors. It also acts as a catalyst to educate others about the disease and the help that's available for the caregivers and families."Those interested can bring their picture, learn more about Alzheimer's and join the group for a Potluck Picnic at the Park, from 5:30-7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 13, under the pavilion at the Jim Thorpe Memorial Park on 10th Street. Photos may also be emailed to
