New enhancements at Lake Wallenpaupack Visitor Center

Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau has announced new enhancements were installed at the Lake Wallenpaupack Visitors Center. These enhancements were funded through a donation from PPL Corporation.

The funds allowed upgrades to the center's security system and Wi-Fi access for guests. With over 28,000 visitors coming through the Lake Wallenpaupack Visitor's Center each year, many using electronic devices to research activities and directions, it made sense to allow them to access theses devices while also getting face-to-face information from the PMVB's certified Brand Ambassadors.A new video display was also installed. It will be updated weekly with upcoming events and activities.Lastly, the Wayne/Pike Ambassador program was developed. The program, for tourism and community professionals, is a full day trip lead by a local historian/educator to many of the unique sights and locations that make up the Pocono Mountains Lake Region. At completion of the program these new "ambassadors" have a deeper understanding of the history and what the community has to offer allowing them to share this knowledge with guests to the region. The first class was in May and two more classes will be offered this coming fall."PPL believes in corporate citizenship and has supported community programs in the Lake Region for more than 80 years," said Paul Canevari, PPL Regional Affairs Director for the Pocono Region. "We appreciate the importance of Lake Wallenpaupack to the region's economy and the commitment of the PMVB to support the local tourism industry."PMVB's Visitors Center certified Brand Ambassadors assist both local residents and visitors with immediate tourism information including referrals, reservations, directions and brochures.A complete collection of current information on a variety of activities, attractions, dining and lodging options is available in addition to displays and exhibits interpreting not only the Lake Region of the Pocono Mountains, but also the surrounding communities.
