Tamaqua man among 13 to enter guilty pleas

A Tamaqua man, who pleaded guilty in Schuylkill County court to charges arising out of failing to pay his bills, drew a lengthy probation sentence. He was one of 13 who entered guilty pleas before President Judge William E. Baldwin and were sentenced as follows:

Robert J. Stackhouse, 31. of 22 E. Union St., on a charge of theft by failure to pay rental services on furniture and other merchandise leased from Rent-A-Center Store, Plaza Drive, Hometown, Rush Township, was placed on probation for 12 months, and ordered to pay $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund, and make restitution of $1,170.70 to the store.The sentence begins at the expiration of a 12 months probation sentence he is now serving, imposed last December, for failing to pay rent owed HP Tamaqua, LLC, owners of Elwoods Apartments. Stackhouse was cited on the current charge by Rush Township Sgt. Duane Frederick.Steven Scott Gall, 48, of 51 Lumber Lane, New Ringgold, who was charged with disorderly conduct by Frederick for protesting receiving a ticket for parking in a fire lane at the Walmart Store in Hometown on July 31, 2012, was ordered to serve 12 months on probation, and pay $50 to CJEA fund. On a plea agreement a second charge of disorderly conduct and scattering rubbish were dismissed.Jeffrey David Grove, 47, of 276 Trout Run Road, Zion Grove, North Union Township, driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, placed on probation six months, fined $300, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $50 to Mcare fund, enroll in the alcohol highway safety school, and perform 10 hours of community service. Grove was stopped by Shenandoah Patrolman Christopher Zuber, last October on Herald Road.Jose Anton Torres, 36, Shenandoah, DUI of alcohol, served a 48 hours in the county prison over the weekend and then probation for six months, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $50 to Mcare fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center (SMC), attend safety school, and perform 100 hours of community service. On a summary charge of failing to wear a seat belt was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Torres was cited by West Mahanoy Township Patrolman Raymond Tonkin III, last September when stopped on SR925.Peter Nathan Cliff, 40, Saint Clair, disorderly conduct, fined $300 and costs. He was cited by Saint Clair Sgt. William M. Dempsey.Craig Theodore Taylor, 23, Shenandoah, DUI of drugs, sentenced to serve six months in the county prison with credit for already serving 65 days, fined $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Mcare fund, $460 to SMC, attend safety school, receive outpatient treatment for substance abuse, submit to random urine screening, and perform 10 hours community service. Taylor was cited by Shenandoah Officer Laurie Dudash.He received a concurrent 30 day sentence on possession of a small amount of marihuana and a 12 months concurrent sentence for possession of drug paraphernalia. On a summary charge of driving while his license was suspended was fined $200 plus $50 costs. On another charge of possession of a controlled substance brought by Shenandoah Capt. George Carado, Taylor must serve an additional 12 months on probation and pay $100 to SAE fund.John M. Wronski III, 26, Mahanoy City, DUI of alcohol, sentenced to begin serving 72 hours in the county prison beginning Sunday, Aug. 4 at 11 a.m., followed by six months on probation, fined $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $50 to Mcare fund, complete safety school, perform 10 hours community service, and driver's license suspended 12 months. Wronski was cited by Mahanoy City Cpl. Michael Dissinger.William John Pesavage, 45, Shenandoah, DUI of alcohol, sentenced to serve 72 hours in the county prison beginning Monday, Aug. 12, at 9 a.m., followed by six months on probation, fined $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $50 to Mcare fund, $60 to SMC, attend safety school, and perform 10 hours of community service. On a charge of driving while his license was suspended-DUI related, must serve an additional 90 days in prison when his DUI sentence expires, pay a fine of $1,000, and $50 to Mcare fund. On a charge of failing to have car insurance was fined $300 plus $50 costs. Pesavage was cited by West Mahanoy Chief Shawn Tray, last Aug. 13 when stopped on SR54.Hasan David Adams, 22, Philadelphia, possession of drug paraphernalia, placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab for drug testing. Adams was cited by Schuylkill Haven Patrolman George S. Meissner, last September. He was also cited by Patrolman Meissner last October of possession of a small amount of marihuana and on this charge was given a 30 probation sentence to run concurrent, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA fund.Elvin Hernandez, 36, Tower City, on a charge of assaulting Kegan Bettinger, Tower City, on June 14, 2010, was sentenced to serve one to 12 months in the county prison beginning Monday, Aug. 5, at 9 a.m. with credit for serving 20 days, and pay $50 to CJEA fund. Hernandez was cited by Trooper Eric Reber.Ronald Joseph Barbarsky, 19, Shenandoah, simple assault, placed on probation three years, pay $50 to CJEA fund, continue with mental health treatment, and have no contact with victim or siblings. On a charge of endangering the welfare of children was given a concurrent 24 months probation sentence. Barbarsky was cited by Minersville Patrolman Jason A. Klouser.Michael Dale Reed, 29, Harrisburg, retail theft of items from Redner's Wholesale Market in Shenandoah, placed on probation 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA fund. Reed was cited by Shenandoah Lt. Gary Keppel.Debbie Ann Scheerer, 45, Port Carbon, conspiracy to commit theft of a sink faucet from the trailer owned by Jay Jones, was given credit for time served in prison from April 15 to May 1 and was released on parole for 12 months, and pay $50 to the district attorney's office for a bench warrant. Scheerer was cited by Trooper Vincent A. LaSelva on July 1, 2012. The bench warrant was issued which caused her incarceration was for failure to appear at a magisterial district judge's office for a preliminary hearing.Each defendant must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
