"Summertime, and the living is easy."

This old cliche is just about unheard of by 70 active candy stripers and junior aides at the Palmerton Hospital.The philosophy behind the hospital candy striper/junior aide program is to help teach these women to think for themselves and to accept responsibility. The purpose behind the expanded summer program is to help them to recognize the fact that the hospital is more than just nursing.The junior aide is best described as the older, greater experienced candy striper. She must have at least two years of volunteer service and be of 15 1/2 years of age.
