Golden AgersThe annual picnic will be held Monday, Aug. 12 beginning at noon. Activities will include a Chinese auction and bingo.The next meeting will be held Monday, July 22 at St. John's Slovak Lutheran Social Hall at 1 p.m.The last opportunity to sign up for the annual picnic will be at this meeting.LansfordSt. John LutheranTonight at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship. This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome to this relaxed, brief, musical, evening prayer. Marjorie Keiter at (570) 273-4038.Swim lessonsSwim lessons are being offered at the Lansford Pool.Morning sessions will run July 22-26 from 10:15-11 a.m.Evening sessions are July 29-Aug. 2 from 6:30-7:15 p.m.Four levels of instruction are available.Level one is for the most basic and beginner swimmers and works on comfort in the water with the ultimate goal of independent doggie paddle.Level two is an introduction to basic stroke work and water safety. Swimmers in this group must be able to doggie paddle independently.Level three is an intermediate level that refines basic strokes and water safety.Level four is an advanced level that focuses on refining all strokes, water safety and some conditioning.For more information call (570) 645-5237.The Lansford Pool is open daily from noon until 7 p.m.NesquehoningMeed's VBSMeed's Memorial United Methodist Church, Catawissa Street, Nesquehoning, will host a community Vacation Bible School July 22-26, from 911:30 a.m.This year's VBS theme is "Tell It On The Mountain." Participants will enjoy music, crafts, snacks and Bible stories.Children ages 3-12 are invited to attend. Volunteers are needed.
