Harleysville man charged by police

A Harleysville man has been charged by Tamaqua police following a vehicle stop on July 1.

Patrolman Peter Wysochansky was on patrol at 1:02 a.m. when he observed a white Ford Escort traveling north on Pine Street. The passenger side headlight was not functioning so the officer initiated a traffic stop. The Schuylkill County Communications operator told the officer the plate on the Escort had expired in September 2012.The driver was identified as Michael Paul Lindsay, 23, of Harleysville. When told his registration had expired, Lindsay produced a valid registration card. The only problem was it was issued to a different Ford vehicle. The vehicle was impounded and Lindsay called a family member for a ride. Before leaving the vehicle Lindsay removed a computer tower and monitor, but left several items behind. As the officer was securing the vehicle he found a small cloth, zippered bag containing a small metal pipe, which had green vegetable matter residue. Another small bag also contained a glass pipe with burnt residue.Lindsay was charged with fraud for altering a vehicle registration card or plate, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving an unregistered vehicle, and failure to have working required lights.
