Rockin' Rescue Day will be held in borough parks

Rockin' Rescue Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, and will bring pet lovers, education and resources together in the upper and lower Lehighton Park.

The event benefits Carbon County Friends of Animals Animal Cruelty Fund and Animal Shelter of Carbon.Along with music throughout the day, there will be a variety of animal rescue groups and shelters on hand with pets available for adoption and information for the betterment of animals.From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Bees Knees will bring the Beatles, 60s, 70s and 80s sounds to Lehighton; and then from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Senile Delinquents, a classic rock band playing music from the 60s, 70s and 80s will take the stage.Waiting for Katie will play from 3 to 4:30 p.m., playing great hits from the classic rock era; and from 7 to 8:30 p.m, Screaming Sunday will perform. Sound will be donated by BEAT Entertainment.An open Classic Car Cruise will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. There is an entry fee.This event has a little something for everyone, with a games, prizes, bake sale, raffles and crafters.There will also be rabies and distemper vaccinations available and a micro chipping clinic sponsored by Creature Comforts from 1 to 5 p.m.For more information, contact Donna Crum at (610) 826-5113 or email
