Vehicles collide on US209 in Tamaqua

Tamaqua rescue crews were called to the intersection of the old Jamesway Plaza along Route 209 yesterday around 3:45 p.m. after two vehicles collided. Vehicles involved were a Subaru Outback, driven by Robert Vasiliou of Coaldale, and a Chrysler mini-van, driven by Matthew Hartraft of Tamaqua. Damage to each vehicle consisted of major front-damage to the Subaru and passenger side damage to the Chrysler. Police reported that two children, who were in the van with Hartranft were checked by paramedics and released. Police added that Hartranft was cited. Responding in addition to police were Tamaqua Fire Department, Tamaqua Rescue Squad and Tamaqua Ambulance.
