A domestic incident led to charges being filed against a Nesquehoning man.

Borough police said Taylor Wesley Schmitt, 23, of 64 W. Mill St., has been charged with simple assault of his mother, Jean Schmitt, and also resisting arrest and harassment involving his mother.On July 5 about 2:22 a.m., Officer Dane O'Brien and Brian White were dispatched to the Schmitt residence after she called 9-1-1 saying she was in a bedroom of the home and that a male was breaking into the room.On scene officers said Taylor Schmitt answered the door. Police said the house was in shambles with various items broken or destroyed and a large amount of beer cans and bottles thrown about the residence.Jean Schmitt was found in an upstairs bedroom with a nose injury. She told officers her son struck her.Taylor Schmitt told officers he and his mother had been drinking and got into an argument over a girl he had been involved with. He admitted punching his mother in the face during the argument and smashing various items throughout the home.Police began to question Taylor Schmitt about what happened and he refused to give any answers. He was getting upset and loud. O'Brien handcuffed Schmitt because he thought he was going to start fighting with the officers.After receiving the information from his mother, Taylor Schmitt was told he was being arrested for domestic violence. He then became belligerent with the officers. The officers escorted him to the police cruiser but he refused to get in. The officers had to force him into the cruiser. Inside he began to yell names at the officers and then began to bang his head and face off the driver side rear window of the police cruiser. He then yelled his nose was bleeding.EMS was called to the scene to evaluate Mrs. Schmitt. On scene Taylor Schmitt was also checked out by the EMS personnel.Taylor Schmitt was then taken to the police station for processing and later arraigned before a district judge.
