Florida man given jail term for DUI

A Florida man was sentenced to a jail term on Monday in Carbon County court for driving under the influence (DUI).

Ricky Lamar Mcfarland, 55, of Pompano Beach, was sentenced by Judge Steven R. Serfass to serve 10 days to one day less 24 months in prison. He was fined $500 and had his license suspended for a year. Additionally, he must render 50 hours of community service, pay court costs, which average close to $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision feel while on parole.Mcfarland was arrested on April 8, 2011, at Park and Bridge Street in Weissport. He was stopped by state police at Lehighton for several motor vehicle code violations and then found to be under the influence.He was given a test which revealed a .13 BAC.He will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. on July 13.
