One of the finest assemblages of oldies groups has occurred with the "Happy Together Tour."

There's Eddie and Flo of the Turtles, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, Mark Lindsay, former lead singer of Paul Revere, and Chuck Negron, formerly of Three Dog Night.Tomorrow night, the Happy Together Tour makes a stop at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe with showtime at 8 p.m. Tickets are $39 and $44.Audience members will hear such all-time favorites as "Happy Together," "She'd Rather Be With Me," "Woman, Woman," "She's Just My Style," "This Diamond Ring," "Joy to the World," "One," and "Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian).The Turtles were led by vocalists Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman, later known as Flo and Eddie. The band became notable for several hits, with their biggest being "Happy Together" in 1967.Other hits included Bob Dylan's "It Ain't Me Babe," "She'd Rather Be With Me," and "Elenore."Gary Lewis, the son of the famous actor Jerry Lewis, was named "Male Vocalist of the Year" by Cashbox magazine in 1965, winning against nominees Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.Gary Lewis and the Playboys got their official start playing in Disneyland. The group has had numerous top 10 hits including "This Diamond Ring," "Everybody Loves A Clown," She's Just My Style," "Save Your Heart For Me," and "Sure Gonna Miss Her."Gary Puckett grew up in Yakima, Wash., close to the town of Union Gap.Some of the hits this band recorded included "Young Girl," "Woman, Woman," "Don't Give In To Him," "Lady Willpower," and "This Girl Is A Woman Now."Mark Lindsay is also a native of the Northwest, growing up in Eugene, Ore. He began performing at the age of 15.Although he was playing in another band, he attended a concert event which featured a group headed by Paul Revere. Lindsay convinced the band to let him sing and he then joined as lead singer.Paul Revere and the Raiders recorded the hits "Him Or Me, What's It Gonna Be," "Kicks," "Mr. Sun, Mr. Moon," and their signature song, "Indian Reservation."Negron helped to form Three Dog Night in 1968. He was one of the three lead vocalists for the group.The band disbanded in 1976, but Negron resumed a solo career in 1991.Negron sings vocals for such hits as "One," "Easy to be Hard," "Mama Told Me Not to Come," and "Joy to the World."
