Women of Ross Club dedicates memorial bricks and bench

The Women of Ross Club (WORC) held its Memorial Brick Dedication at the Ross Township VanBuskirk-Haney Park, followed by a picnic. The women have been selling the bricks for the past few years and it was a happy occasion to see the bricks and a memorial bench installed at the park as part of the Dedication Trail. The bricks and benches are to honor and serve as a reminder for those who have served their community, family and/or country.

They planted a Pin Oak in the spring of 2009.The Women of Ross Club was formed around 2001 with four women as a litter cleanup meeting. They decided to become more active by taking on environmental and social issues. They focus on the township (its history and heritage,) its appearance and on women. They have presented scholarships to various female high school seniors, sponsored the "Kids Zone" at the annual Ross Township Community Day and have held a History Day at the site of the Ross Township VanBuskirk-Haney Park featuring tools, old photos and stories from a couple of older residents. They meet the third Thursday at various members homes or restaurants. They currently have eight members and four associate members who are out of the area but want to stay in touch. If interested in honoring someone with a brick or bench, or becoming a member of WORC, call (570) 620-5056 or (570) 992-5311
