These two vehicles were damaged at around 8 a.m. this morning when Carl Goerlitz, 46, of Lehighton, was operating his 1998 Dodge Neon eastbound in the 200 block of Princeton Avenue in Palmerton when he fell asleep, causing his vehicle to crash into a parked 2001 Ford Taurus owned by Steve Takas, 84, of Palmerton. Both vehicles were disabled and towed. Goerlitz was taken by Palmerton Ambulance to Lehighton Hospital with unknown injuries. Also assisting at the scene were the Palmerton Fire Department, Palmerton Police Department, and Paul Strohl's Towing service.
