The Lewistown Valley Garden Club will hold its Annual Spring Tea on April 30 in the social hall of Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. Members are reminded to bring tea cups, finger sandwiches and desserts. Reservations are required and may be made by calling (570) 668-4288 or 467-3400. Set up for the tea will be held at 9 a.m. the same day.Evelyn Adams will provide the table arrangements and guest speaker will be Penn State Master Gardener Clara Zimmer. Her topic will be mints/herbs and their many uses. The tea committee is Louise Flexer, June Leiby, Judy Kellner and Mary Bridygham.Volunteers will be needed to help with the various county buildings during the Schuylkill County Fair, which will be held July 27 through Aug. 3. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 a.m. traditional service this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Rev. Roberts will also officiate at a contemporary service at 10:30 a.m., at the Tamaqua YMCA. Sunday school and Confirmation classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.Electronic recyclingEarlier this year, due to new regulations, residents of Tamaqua were no longer able to place their old electronic devices out for curbside pick up on trash day. To alleviate the hardship this has caused, Advanced Green Solutions Inc. will hold a free electronic recycling event on May 18 at the Tamaqua Transfer Station, 20 Sewer Plant Road, Tamaqua.Items to be collected and recycled will include: televisions, telephones, cell phones, keyboards, cables, cords, CRT monitors, copiers, printers, fax machines, stereos, speakers, DVD players, VCRs, video game systems, LCD monitors, word processors, hard drives, desktop/laptop computers and other miscellaneous electronics equipment.Hours for dropping items off at the transfer station will be 8 a.m. to noon on May 18.For more information, call (570) 668-4515.
