Ted Bogosh III of South Tamaqua has announced he is a candidate for the position of West Penn Township Supervisor.

A 1971 graduate of Tamaqua High School, Bogosh was active in chess club, gymnastics and the swim team. He then attended Parks College of Aeronautical Technology, studying aircraft maintenance engineering, participating in ROTC, the college rifle drill team and the Parks Environmental Protection Foundation. He served as a disc jockey for the Parks radio station and became editor of the Parks newspaper.He then entered the U.S. Marine Corps and was selected to serve as a diplomat at the U.S. Embassys in Somali and Madagascar His last military assignment was the implementation of an EOD robotics program in Iraq and Afghanistan, a program that successfully saved numerous American and coalition lives. The Commandant of the Marine Corps personally extended Bogosh's tour in Iraq until the program was fully established.The candidate has also been an active firefighter, a member of the Civil Air Patrol, a pilot, a sail boat captain, scuba diver, marksmanship instructor, a youth leader for the Pennsylvania State Police and American Legion Youth Week, and has served as a consultant for the Potomac Institute.He currently runs his own landscaping and tree trimming business from his farm and serves as roadmaster for West Penn Township. He volunteers in the community by helping to maintain the park; chairs the sewer committee which has reduced the proposed sewer costs by more than $20 million; is a member of the planing commission, which is responsible for rewriting the flood plain ordinance to allow for easier community development; and is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.Bogosh believes local government should be there to help people accomplish their dream home, not hinder or charge gluttonous fees to divide, add to or improve your property. He notes, "Government should operate within its budget and not raise taxes."
