Lehighton Area High School Drama Club will be performing "The Wild, Wild, Wildest West," or "How the West was Dun," at 7:30 both nights of Friday, April 12, and Saturday, April 13. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Grab your partner, and throw on your best duds, cowboy boots and don't forget that 10 gallon hat and roll on over to see this hilarious musical spoof of many of Hollywood's Westerns featuring a toe-tapping, heel-clicking songs by Bill Francoeur.Slick and wealthy Richard Coldheart (played by Kyle Higgins) must marry Polly Wanda Cracker (Schyler Cordova) to control the Cracker property. However, it's Polly's homely sister, Prunella (Kaitlyn Piekarski), who wants to marry him.Meanwhile, the hero, Sheriff Wayne John (Alex Rubin) has his hands full surviving the hilarious antics of well-meaning but not-too-bright Deputy Doowrong (played by Brandon Everett). When a bundle of villains, including Snydley Dastardly (Dan Pintos), Kid Kid (Paige Verrastro) and Calamity Jan (Aleigh Smith), attempts to take over Low Humidity Chasm, things really go crazy.The audience will have to pay close attention to whether Schizophrenic Kid (Spence David) is wearing his white hat or his black hat to know whether to cheer or boo. But Blacker Bart (Riley Zimmerman) will leave no doubt in their minds, for he's even meaner than Black Bart (Allison Butrie).With a narrator (Sarah Kistler) to keep the characters on stage in line, this wild and wooly Western will bring down the house.Other cast members are: Widow Cracker (Elyse Kistler), Cowboy Bob Skratachit (Avery Frohnheiser), Bo Best (Matt McGeehan), Sasparilla Sal (Alyssa Huntington), Belle Starr (Kaley Miller), Reverend Right (Brandon Solt), Lone Stranger (Geoff Ebbert), April (Marissa Michalik), May, (Elizabeth Reichard), June, (Jurnee Strawser), August (Kaitlyn Bandholz), Saloon Girls, (Kaitlyn Bandholz, Alan Anderson, Kelsey Binder, Cassidy Clark, Liz Beck, Skylar Eidem, Ashley Collins, Megan Pomposello and Rebecca Nagy).You'll hear a wide array of Western tunes, such the lively bluegrass "Wild, Wooly an' Full o' Fleas," the rockabilly, "Citizens of Evil," and the lovely ballad, "It's Always Darkest Before the Dawn."The audience is part of the show with booing, hissing, hurrahing and singing in this old time musical melodrama.The book was written by Christopher Gieschen with music lyrics by Bill Francoeur and was produced by special arrangements with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc. of Englewood, Colorado.Tickets can be purchased from a cast member in advance or at the door.
