Charged with burglarizing vacant home in Mahoning

Two individuals are facing charges after they allegedly burglarized a vacant residence along Ashtown Drive in Mahoning Township.

James Ahner, 18, of Lehighton, who police said was already on probation, and James Weimar, 19, also of Lehighton, were arraigned before District Judge Edward Lewis of Jim Thorpe.Ahner, who was arraigned Thursday, was lodged in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000, 10 percent bail.Weimar was arraigned Friday and was released on unsecured bail.Police said a male, age 12 who was also involved, has not been charged.According to Audie Mertz, officer in charge of the police department, the burglary happened on Feb. 25.Both Ahner and Weimar have been charged with burglary, criminal conspiracy burglary, criminal trespass-burglary, all felonies; theft by unlawful taking or disposition, and criminal conspiracy theft by unlawful taking or disposition, a misdemeanor; and criminal conspiracy theft by unlawful taking or disposition, both misdemeanors.
