Every Wednesday in Lent, except for March 13, volunteers at Tamaqua's St. Jerome Church and school are hosting free community soup dinners. Volunteers stressed the social as being free, but stated donations would benefit St. Vincent De Paul - who help the less fortunate in our area. This is the third year that St. Jerome has held the event. In addition to a selection of homemade soups, guests enjoyed refreshments, other foods and desserts. Organizer Kristin Osenbach thanked everyone who helped and showed up to enjoy the event. Upcoming meals are planned for March 6, 20 and 27, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Enjoying time with friends are Cristy Clemson, Gia Clemson, 3, Gregg Clemson and organizer Kristin Osenbach, with her 10-month old daughter Giana.
