PVMS students score big for the American Heart Association

Students of the Panther Valley Middle School again participated in the American Heart Association's Hoops for Heart.

During the annual program, students learned how to properly care for their hearts by maintaining a healthy lifestyle through exercise and proper nutrition.The students also reached out to family, friends and local businesses for donations to benefit the American Heart Association.Top fundraisers from the school were: Michael Schmeltzle, $165, Alex Lebo, $100 and Justin Ogozalek and Matthew Jungbaer with $65 each. The total amount raised by all students was $2,555.77.The event culminated with tournament-style basketball games that were played all day on Friday.Results for grade six were: first place, Orange team; second place, Red team; and third place, Blue team.Grade seven: first place, Orange team; second place, Black & White team; third place Purple team.Grade eight: first place, Red team; second place Black & White team; and third place, Pink & Green team.
