Members of the Schuylkill Carbon Marine Corps League (SCMCL) Det. 626 presented two local residents and the Hometown Fire Company with plaques of appreciation for their support of the League's Toys For Tots campaign. In December, volunteers Betty Herring of Weatherly and Janine Coleman of Tamaqua teamed up with the Hometown Fire Company to hold a holiday event to benefit Toys For Tots. In addition to many vendors, visitors were treated to a 60-prize Chinese Auction, face painting, air brushing, Mr. and Mrs. Claus, as well as snacks, hot food and refreshments by the fire company. "Their fundraising event was very successful in helping us provide toys to so many deserving children during the holidays," said Cheryl Laub, Toys For Tots coordinator with SCMCL.
