Over 100 years of combined volunteer time

Fire police volunteers Earlin Kunkel, left, and Forrest Laudenslager, both with the New Tripoli Volunteer Fire Police Company, prevent traffic from traveling up Gun Club Road yesterday in Lynn Township (just south of West Penn Township). They both stood there about eight hours while emergency personnel and State Police responded to a single-vehicle accident that claimed the life of a propane truck driver. Kunkel, a fire police Captain, volunteered 35 years with the company's fire police and about 50 years with the fire company. Laudenslager volunteered 11 years with the company's fire police and 58 years with the fire company.
