Salvation Army looking for volunteers to help the kids

The Tamaqua Salvation Army is hoping a few community members will step up and donate an hour or more of their time each week to help children.

"We are looking for three to five community members, ages 18 and up, who are able to volunteer two or more hours a week at the Tamaqua Salvation Army, providing supervision to youth playing in the gymnasium," said Major Sharon Whispell. "The open gym provides a safe and fun place for kids to hang out when school is over."She pointed out that the volunteer hours are flexible."Open gym times can be made to fit the hours of the volunteers, although fixed times are always best," said Dina Depos, programs director. If you are a community member in good standing and can volunteer, call the Salvation Army at (570) 668-0410 Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or open gym coordinator Andrew Leibenguth anytime at (570) 668-1234.
