The Central Railroad of New Jersey is experimenting with a gas-electric engine between Mauch Chunk and Tamaqua. It is the second experiment, the first some time ago, was unsatisfactory, owing to the engine being incapable of negotiating the heavy grade between Mauch Chunk and Nesquehoning. The experiment today was with the L. and N. E. engine, which is in service on that road. It was tried with one car this morning and this afternoon, two cars were attached as a test of its power.
