Chestnuthill Township board of supervisors approved, 3-0, having John Mathews, a Chestnuthill Township resident, as an intern for the next few months.

Mathews is a student at East Stroudsburg University and needs 12 credits in administration and management. He will not receive any monetary pay. He will begin his internship at the end of January to the end of May. He will work with Dave Albright, the township manager. Albright is hoping Mathews will be able to put all the roadwork files into the computer.It was noted that the township suffered a deep loss at the death of Skip Snyder, who had been a very active member of the West End Vol. Fire Co. for over 51 years. There will be a spaghetti dinner held in his memory on Sunday, Jan. 20 from 3-7 p.m. at the firehouse.Bernie Kozen, executive director of the West End Park and Open Space Commission, said that Santa in the Park was a huge success with over 125 children attending. There will be a "Winter Hike" with naturalist, Don Miller on Sunday, Jan. 27. Interested people should meet at the Chestnuthill Township Park at 1 p.m. and explore the newly established trail at the West End Regional Park. It is level terrain, both on/off trail and appropriate for all ages. Families are welcomed.In other township business, the board approved 3-0, for the board, staff, and their spouses to attend the PSATS conference if they so desire."We have always learned something at the conference that we were able to utilize here in the township," said Supervisor Chairman Chuck Gould.The board approved, 2-0, the Gould family lot line adjustment. Supervisor Chairman Gould abstained because of family.There will be a second supervisors' meeting this month, to be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 23.There will be no Chestnuthill Township Historical Society meeting the month of January, but there will be a 250th anniversary committee meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
