The North Central Pa. Regional Sobriety Checkpoint DUI Taskforce and Expanded DUI/Underage Drinking Enforcement Program has released the following information from recent Roving DUI patrols.

A roving patrol on Sept. 6 resulted in officers detaining 47 vehicles. One driver was tested and arrested, suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Three people were cited for underage drinking. Officers issued 24 traffic citations; made one criminal arrest; and issued 24 warnings. Six departments, represented by six officers, participated in the patrol.On Sept. 7, a roving patrol was conducted by five officers, representing five departments. Officers contacted and detained 35 vehicles, with one driver suspected of DUI. Officers did make one underage drinking arrest, issued eight traffic and one seat belt citations, made two criminal arrests; and issued 27 warnings.Sobriety checkpoints and Roving DUI patrols will also be conducted through Sept. 17 on state routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 309, 443, 895, 125, 25, 924 and 54.Travelers are reminded to dial 911 if they suspect a drunken driver.To report underage drinking, call 1-888-UNDER21.The sobriety checkpoints and Roving DUI patrols are funded through the state Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
