A Monroe County man is facing a charge of public drunkenness following an incident that occurred about 12:54 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8.

Pocono Mountain Regional police responded to the Hemlock Campground in Mount Pocono at the time and date stated where several campers had complained about a male on site T-3 being unruly, loud and disrespectful.

Upon arrival officers observed James T. Heffernan, 25, of Tobyhanna, lying on the ground yelling obscenities and disrupting nearby camps. Heffernan was extremely intoxicated, police said, and had tackled one camper before falling into the fire pit at the site.

Heffernan was not injured and was placed under arrest. He was placed in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment.
