Man facing mulitple counts
A Tamaqua man faces numerous charges following an incident at the Family Dollar Store parking lot, 137 N. Railroad St., on May 4.
Patrolman Joseph Krebs was dispatched to the area for a reported disturbance at 8:13 p.m. On scene he observed a male who appeared to be intoxicated. The man was weaving in and out of traffic and stumbling repeatedly.
The man was identified as Brian Keith Woods, 48, of 18 Mauch Chunk St.
Several witnesses told the officer that Woods had been walking in traffic on North Railroad Street and then approached a group of young people in the lot. He allegedly offered to sell them marijuana and threw a small vodka bottle on to the parking lot surface.
A search of Woods discovered a small amount of green vegetable matter, a clear plastic case and a metal pipe with burnt vegetable matter residue. As he was being transported to the station in the back of a police cruiser, Woods repeatedly told Krebs that he "would have the officer's job."
He was cited for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, threatening a law enforcement officer, threatening to influence the judicial process, threatening to influence an officer to violate his legal duty, public drunkenness, consuming an alcoholic beverage in a public place, and littering.
