Palmerton Hospital Adult Day Services at Blue Mountain Health System will hold its Family Caregiver Support Group from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at the Palmerton Health Center, 217 Franklin Ave., Palmerton.

From 6-7 p.m., speaker, Tammy George, RN, BSN, program director, BMHS Hyperbaric & Wound Healing Center, will discuss wound healing for people with diabetes or patients with certain skin, bone and tissue conditions. She will talk about the center and how it offers proven wound care practices and advanced clinical approaches, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy to help heal patients who suffer from chronic wounds.

A group discussion will follow from 7-8 p.m.

The support group centers on caregivers tending to family members with Alzheimer's, stroke, dementia, Parkinson's, or other physical or mental disabilities. It focuses on free education and community support from other caregivers who understand daily obligations.

Attendees are invited to share comments, suggestions and ideas to help support each other and nurture friendships while learning to cope with the 24-hour-a-day job that can be physically and emotionally exhausting to the caregiver.

Meetings are free and open to the public. Care is available for your loved one during the meeting and light refreshments will be available. For more information and to register, call (610) 826-1160.
