FT Shockers' Hill tosses perfect game

Nick Hill of the Franklin Township Shockers recently pitched a perfect game during a doubleheader sweek of the Forks Township Falcons.

Nick Hill pitched a perfect game against Forks Township in the opener of a doubleheader and the Franklin Township Shockers went on to complete a sweep.

Hill tossed seven innings without a runner reaching base. He struck out four batters along the way and received plenty of offensive support in the 11-0 victory.

Vince Mele had three hits and scored two runs for the winners while Anthony Farole added a pair of hits and two stolen bases. AJ Wenrich contributed two hits, one a double, and scored three times, and Alex Storm chipped in with a single, double, two runs and an RBI.

The Shockers completed the sweep by rolling to a 24-4 win in the second game.

Jacen Nalesnick had two hits, scored twice and knocked in three runs while Zach Kamowski finished with two hits and two RBIs.

Jordan Knappenberger contributed to the win with two hits while James Farano added a hit and scored four times. Anthony Rossino and AJ Wenrich each scored three times while Kyle Troch and Brady Niehoff both had a hit and knocked in two runs.

-FT Hurricanes

The Franklin Township Hurricanes used a three-run seventh inning to take the lead, but then watched it disappear in the bottom half as the Hazleton Mountaineers rallied for a 5-4 victory.

Alex Brennan delivered the game-winning walk-off hit for Hazleton. The winners also received a double and RBI from Edwar Tejeda.

-FT Hurricanes

Greg Wierzbicki tossed a four-hitter and struck out six batters to lead the Towamensing Yankees to a 7-2 victory over the Franklin Township Hurricanes.

Isaac George paced the Towamensing offense with two hits, one a double, a run scored and an RBI. Wierzbicki and Ty Achtermann also chipped in with a hit and an RBI.

The Towamensing Yankees pounded out 16 hits in claiming a 12-6 victory over the Hazleton Mountaineers.

Nick Frey collected three hits, one a double, scored two runs and knocked in three. Ty Achtermann added two hits, a stolen base and a pair of runs while Garrett Krome, Isaac George and Austin Cook all finished with two hits and an RBI.

Achtermann pitched five inning, walking two and striking out four, to gain the win.

Matt Roberts had three hits and knocked in four runs but it wasn't enough for the Tamaqua Blue Sox, as Oley/Topton gained a 9-5 victory on Sunday.

The winners broke a 4-4 tie by scoring five runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Two of Roberts' hits were doubles. Nate McDonald also had three hits for the Blue Sox, who dropped to 1-9. Adam Bates contributed a pair of hits and two runs scored.

Adam Bates and Matt Roberts each banged out two singles and a double Friday, but the Tamaqua Blue Sox ended up dropping an 11-4 contest to Minersvile.

The winners received four hits and three RBIs from A. Wiley while R. King and McBreen each added two hits and three runs scored.

Bates scored two runs for Tamaqua while Derek Rottet doubled and knocked in a pair of runs. The Blue Sox also received two hits, one a double, from Luke Matsago.

Gablesville-Lehigh Vy.

The Lehigh Valley Marlins swept a doubleheader with the Gablesville Owls over the weekend.

In the opener, Zach Palansky scattered nine hits over seven innings to lead the Marlins to a 7-1 win.

Jake Kern had four hits, two of them doubles, and knocked in five runs to pace the LV offense. Jake Bostick added three hits and an RBI while Ryan Weiner chipped in with two hits, one a double.

In the second game, Joe Seremula delivered a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game and the Marlins won it in the eighth on a throwing error.

Zach Szoke had three hits and scored two runs for the winners with Cody Krupa adding three hits and an RBI. Jake Bostick and Luke Szoke each added a pair of hits.

Zach Rex earned the pitching win by tossing a scoreless eighth inning.
