Some parishioners of the Meed's Methodist Church are manning a free lunch program at the church on West Catawissa Street, Nesquehoning. Presenting checks to the program are Helen Applegate, left, from the Lions Club to director Grace Vandermartin. On the right is Carol Zickler giving a check from the Nesquehoning Woman's Club. Front are Lilly Fitzsimmons and Jordan Hunsberger, attending the lunch. St. Luke's Community Health will present programs to the children. The lunch started on June 17 with chicken nuggets, tator tots, dessert, and a drink sponsored by the Nesquehoning Woman's Club. On Tues. a brunch of scrambled eggs, ham, hashbrowns, bread, and juice will be served sponsored by the McDermott family. There will not be a free lunch on Thurs. due to a funeral lunch. Friday will be hot dogs, beans, applesauce, drinks and a dessert sponsored by Macaluso's.
