Tamaqua Blue Sox get Legion victory

The Tamaqua Blue Sox gained a win in Schuylkill/Berks Legion action while the Franklin Township Shockers and Towamensing Yankees both picked up recent victories in Keystone Senior Babe Ruth contests.



Connor Hartung pitched a three-hitter to lead Tamaqua to a 2-1 win over Southern Area.

Hartung allowed two walks and struck out seven batters as the Blue Sox claimed their second victory of the season.

Matt Roberts had a double and an RBI while Adam Bates scored both Tamaqua runs.

No. Yankees-LV Marlins

Jeremy Faust had two hits, one of them a two-run homer, to help the Northern Yankees post a 4-1 victory over the Lehigh Valley Marlins.

Darrin Lenhart added a double and knocked in a pair of runs for the Yankees while Adam Hayes tossed a six-hitter to earn the pitching win.

Zach Szoke had three hits, one a double, for Lehigh Valley. The Marlins' Tyler Svetik pitched well in defeating, allowing just five hits in a complete-game effort.

FT Shockers-Hazleton

A seven-run third inning helped the Franklin Township Shockers roll to a 13-1 victory over the Hazleton Mountaineers.

Alex Storm had two hits, one a double, knocked in two run and scored two more to lead a 12-hit attack. Kyle Troch added a single and double and two RBIs while Anthony Rossino also finished with a single, double, two runs scored and an RBI.

James Farano and Damian Richards each chipped in with a hit and two runs while Parker David pitched five innings for the victory.

The win improves the Shockers' record to 15-1-1.

Panther Valley-Hazleton

Hazleton broke a tie game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and went on to post an 8-5 win over the Panther Valley Black Diamonds.

Jerry Castillo pitched a five-hitter to lead the Mountaineers.

Forks Twp.-Towamensing

Nick Frey pitched a shutout and Austin Cook provided the offense as the Towamensing Yankees rolled to an 11-0 win over Forks Township.

Frey finished with a four-hitter while Cook had three hits and knocked in four runs. The Yankees also received two RBIs from Stephanie Augustine.
