Northumberland driver facing DUI

Published January 22. 2013 05:01PM

A Northumberland County driver is facing a driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol charge following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 6:40 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, along Interstate 81 in Foster Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Hali Lynn Matzura, 25, of Mount Carmel, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck northbound and weaving erratically in her lane.

She swerved to the right, across the northbound shoulder and landed in a ditch.

The truck then rolled over coming to rest off the road on its roof.

Matzura climbed out of the truck and was observed stumbling near it by passing motorists who also saw her attempt to bury a purse in the snow.

The purse was recovered, containing drug paraphernalia and possible drug packets.

She was placed under arrest and transported to a Pottsville area hospital for a blood test.

She suffered minor cuts on her hands.

Charges are pending the test results, troopers said.
