Anna Bowman marks 88th birthday

Anna Bowman, a resident at The Village at Palmerton, observed her 88th birthday on Feb. 11.

Born and raised on her grandparents' farm (Peter and Barbara George) in Palmerton, Anna was the oldest of three children. She graduated from Palmerton High School in 1942, went to work at Regent Market and later Shipman's Pharmacy where she worked for 15 years."I always enjoyed meeting and helping people, so it was the perfect place for me to be."At the 1979 Aquashicola School Reunion, she met Bob Bowman. Bob had been working in Lansdale for the railroad so he wasn't in town often. Two weeks after the reunion Anna got a call and they dated for almost three years. The couple married in July 1982, a second marriage for both.Previously, Anna was married to Bill Lipics of Palmerton. They had three children together: Roger, Joel, and Jeff. After 20 years together, Bill passed away in 1966.When she married Bob, he already had two daughters Doris and Eileen."The kids were all grown and on their own but happy that their parents could find love a second time around," said Anna."Bob and I like to attend exercise and music programs, and I just learned how to bowl on the Wii system. That was fun too, but I still enjoys spending time with a good book, as long as it's large print these days."
