Jim Thorpe picked up wins in girls tennis and golf in scholastic action on Monday afternoon.



Hamburg got the best of Tamaqua for a 4-1 victory on the courts.

Tamaqua's doubles teams of Amy Gardiner and Maddie Davis picked up the lone win for the locals.

Jim Thorpe started off its season with a victory over Freeland MMI, 4-1.

Bryanna Kehrli and Haley Cope got singles wins for the Olympians, while Maria Donati and Minke Pheiffer along with Hope Damian and Emily Layden were doubles winners.

Blue Mountain used its depth to earn a 331-379 victory over Tamaqua in Schuylkill League action.

The Eagles' top four players shot 85 or better, led by Bailey Sophy's 78.

The Olympians hosted the Red Raiders, who have just two golfers and scored 357 points to get their first win. Brett Luicano fired a round of 83 to lead Jim Thorpe. No other information was received by THE TIMES NEWS.

Wilson-Northwestern-Moravian Academy

Northwestern suffered a pair of Colonial League losses to Wilson and Moravian Academy.

Moravian Academy, led by medalist Tim Wolak (74), tallied a 391 to sweep both of its opponents. Wilson recorded a final score of 423 with Northwestern not far behind at 425.

The Tigers' Cole Miller tied Wilson's Colin Hagenbuch for the best round, shooting an even 70.

Southern Lehigh earned a sweep in Colonial League action by beating Bangor and Palmerton.

The Spartans, led by John Albenzi's match-best 78, tallied a 412 in the victory. Bangor notched a 469 while Palmerton finished with a final score of 560.

Palmerton's Casey Cook and Charles Debski each shot a 105 to lead the Bombers.
