The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that construction on the two Slatedale Bridges is complete and all roads are open.

The bridges are the Main Street Bridge over a tributary to Trout Creek and the township-owned Grant Street Bridge over a tributary to Trout Creek. Both bridges are in Washington Township, Lehigh County.The project started in Sept. 2011 and involved the full replacement of both structurally deficient bridges.Construction began with a closure of the Grant Street Bridge that utilized Main Street as the detour. When Grant Street was complete, the Main Street Bridge was closed and Grant Street was used as the detour.J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, Pa. was the general contractor on the $1,847,783 project.The new Main Street Bridge is a 27 feet long, 40 feet wide concrete box beam bridge. Main Street has average daily traffic of 1,963 vehicles.The new Grant Street Bridge is a concrete box beam bridge 27 feet long, 31 feet wide. Grant Street has average daily traffic of 280 vehicles.
