Tax exemptions

The Schuylkill County and Tamaqua Borough Per Capita and Occupation Tax Exemption Forms for the year 2013 are now available for Borough of Tamaqua residents.The exemption forms can be obtained at the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E. Broad St., Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Forms will also be available at tax collector Alan Kerr's office, the Tamaqua Area School District Administration building, the Tamaqua ABC High Rise, Majestic House Apartment Complex, the Tamaqua Public Library and the Tamaqua Post Office. Residents must complete the form each year to qualify for the tax exemption.Exoneration forms must be submitted by Friday, Jan. 25, 2012.Calvary EvangelicalThe Rev. Dr. Ed Bean will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, the Sunday school class will present its annual youth program at 6:30 p.m. The program will include a play and musical selections. The public is welcome to attend.Senior citizensThe Tamaqua Seniors met Dec. 13 at the Tamaqua Community Center with 76 members in attendance. Vice President Nancy Gerber conducted the business session and provided her report. Jacquie Parick provided the invocation, entitled "Searching For The Best Gift."Reports were offered by secretary Joan Anne Garber and treasurer Antoinette Triano. Doris Brobst and Marge Skymba were added to the sick list. The meeting concluded with cards and social games.The last meeting of the year will be held Dec. 20, at 1 p.m., at the community center. The center will change hands in January and the seniors will need a new site for their meetings.Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. The center is handicap accessible.St. Peter's UnionThe Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 11:30 a.m.On Thursday, the prayer group will meet at 4:45 p.m.Christmas Eve services will be celebrated at 2 p.m., 7 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. Preludes will begin 30 minutes before each service.
