CSCT's 'Little Women - The Musical' opens this weekend

Carbon Schuylkill Community Theater will perform Little Women The Musical this weekend at the Lehighton Borough Annex Auditorium, located at 110 North Third St., Lehighton.

The production, based on the much-loved book by Louisa May Alcott, is the community theater group's holiday offering."Little Women is a story that has been loved by many generations for its amazing story line," says director Zane Bachert. "Little Women The Musical takes that beautiful story line and adds some beautiful songs."The musical is probably one of my favorites that I have worked on, because it focuses on the main character of Jo March, but it also develops all of the intricate side stories that Louisa May Alcott originally had in her beautiful story."Little Women follows the four March sisters Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy as they grow up during the Civil War, and is loosely based on the lives of Alcott and her three sisters. The story is timeless, as it deals with issues as relevant today as they were when the book was published in 1868."Our cast is absolutely amazing," says Bachert. "It is loaded with several notable local talents such as Jessica Schafer (Jo March), Katie Evans (Meg March), Michelle Stoudt (Marmee March), Marissa Miller (Clarissa), Jim Cimms (Knight), Shirley Rodgers (Mrs. Kirk), Kevin Killian (Prof. Bhaer), and Jonathan Rodgers (John Brooke)."We also have some very talented new actors in our cast this time. They include Brooke Hutchins (Amy March), Sarah Rodgers (Beth March), Danny Abruzzi (Laurie Laurence), April Boyett (Aunt March), Caitlin Connolly (Troll), and Laura Williams (Rodrigo 2).Little Women The Musical was written by Allan Knee, with lyrics by Mindi Dickstein and music by Jason Howland. It is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI)."With such a wonderful show and such an amazing cast this is a show you won't want to miss," adds Bachert. "It only plays two times Saturday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. Get your tickets now so that you don't miss out."Bachert says the show is appropriate for children and adults of all ages.
