A Monroe County woman has been charged with theft and a related count.

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported about 4:40 p.m. on Dec. 5 they were called to the home of Diane Romeo, 47, of 3135 Wintergreen Lane, Pocono Summit. On scene they were told by Romeo that someone stole several pieces of jewelry belonging to her daughter, Jessica Romeo, 32, from the home. The jewelry was located in a jewelry box located in a locked bedroom. The jewelry was valued at $500.Through an investigation police recovered some of the jewelry at a pawn shop in Stroudsburg. As a result of the investigation police charged Melissa Ann Romeo, 33, no address given. They said she pawned some of the jewelry at the pawn shop.She was charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition and receiving stolen property. She was lodged in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment.Police did not indicate the relationship the suspect has with the victims, if any.
