Hit and run drivers being sought

State police at Frackville are looking for two drivers involved in crashes on Schuylkill County roadways who fled the scene of the accidents.

The first reported hit and run occurred along SR924 in East Union Township, about 6:15 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the entrance to the Eagle Rock development.Troopers said Jose Ramirez, 60, of West Hazleton, was driving a 1998 Honda Civic southbound and approaching the entrance when his vehicle struck the rear of a gold Chevrolet Trailblazer, which had stopped to let another vehicle exit the development.After impact the driver of the Trailblazer fled the scene southbound for unknown reasons. The Trailblazer is probably at 2002 to 2009 model. The Trailblazer should have left rear bumper damage.Ramirez was not injured. The Honda had to be towed from the scene.The second hit and run was reported also along Preston Avenue in Girardville. Troopers said a 2003 Ford Windstar was legally parked in the 300 block when, sometime between 3 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday, it was struck by another vehicle whose driver fled the scene. Damages to the Windstar was minor consisting of a small dent in the rear bumper area.Troopers also reported investigating a one vehicle crash about 2:40 p.m. on Sunday along SR54 in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Ryan K. Seitz, 28, of Tremont, was driving a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta westbound when he swerved to avoid a deer on the road. The Jetta went onto the berm and struck a rock embankment.Seitz sustained a minor injury and was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-St. Jackson St., Pottsville. The Jetta had to be towed from the scene.
