No tax hike in Walker Twp.

Walker Township residents will not see a tax increase for 2013. The news was presented by Supervisor Craig Wagner during last evening's supervisors meeting, held in the municipal building.

The board drafted an ordinance for the park in Wildcat, restricting certain activities. This ordinance is a revision of an older one that did not include a smoking ban, fire and grilling rules and banning the possession of weapons, including paintball guns. Township Solicitor Michael S. Greek said he felt the old one was outdated and the new one should include these provisions. Fines for violating the ordinance range from $50 to $300.The board also adopted a resolution authorizing ancillary activities for the New England Fire Company (NEFC). Workers compensation will be given to any NEFC worker who gets injured at fundraising events, which include work at parades, traffic control, dinners, bingo, dances, catering, etc.The next Walker Township board of supervisors meeting will be on Monday, Jan. 7 at 4 p.m. in the municipal building. A meeting is also scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 27 to adopt the final budget for 2013.
