New Jersey driver facing DUI charge

A New Jersey woman has been cited by McAdoo police following an incident in the borough on Oct. 28.

Patrolman Steven Homanko was conducting a traffic stop when he observed a black Jeep run the red light at the intersection of Kennedy Drive and Grant Street. The officer followed the Jeep and stopped it in the area of the VFW.The female driver, identified as Joan Marquez, 32, had an odor of alcohol on her person and her eyes appeared to be glassy and bloodshot. She admitted to having a drink of alcohol then failed three field sobriety tests.A portable breath test indicated a blood-alcohol content of .096 percent. Marquez was transported to a Pottsville Hospital to have blood drawn. The results of that test indicated a .105 BAC.She was cited for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, failure to stop for a traffic signal, and careless driving.
