PennDOT is announcing that police agencies in Carbon and Schuylkill counties will be on the alert for aggressive drivers during a coordinated enforcement effort on Friday, Dec. 7.

PennDOT and its police partners are determined to reduce traffic crash-related fatalities and injuries to the motoring public from aggressive driving behaviors. Motorists, who speed, weave through traffic, run red lights, or who do not stop at stop signs, put other road users at risk for injury or death. Aggressive drivers stopped by these police agencies will get ticketed.Aggressive driving crashes include two or more of the following aggressive behaviors: running stop signs or red traffic lights, passing in no passing zones, making careless lane changes, speeding and tailgating.Participating aggressive driving enforcement police agencies in east central Pennsylvania are: Beaver Meadows, Lehighton, Franklin Township, Weatherly and state police (Carbon County; Fern Ridge and Lehighton); Ashland, Butler Township, West Mahanoy Township, West Penn Township, Rush Township, and state police (Frackville and Schuylkill Haven), Schuylkill County.These efforts are part of PennDOT's Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Program wave running from Dec. 3 through 31.
