Indeed. Santa Claus is coming to Palmerton. He's leaving his sleigh and reindeer at the North Pole so he will be arriving in a fire truck which will deliver him to the Palmerton Borough Park on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 1 p.m.This successful holiday event has been a tradition for over 22 years. It is sponsored by the Aquashicola Fire Department, the Palmerton Fire Department and Palmerton Memorial Park Association.Bring your children and grandchildren. They will each receive a goody bag filled with delicious treats and special surprises, all donated by area businesses. There's even a chance to win a Toys R Us gift card or a child's membership to the Palmerton Memorial Pool for 2013.To sweeten the deal, there will be free hot chocolate and cookies for everyone.An important item you need to bring along is your camera. This will be a wonderful photo opportunity to have your children photographed with Santa Claus in a beautiful setting in the park, to preserve a precious memory.Santa and the Aquashicola Vol. Fire Co. are also asking for your help. Santa would like to make an early Christmas toy delivery to the boys and girls in New Jersey, to bring them a little extra Christmas cheer after losing everything when Hurricane Sandy destroyed much of the eastern coastline. The toys will continue to be accepted at the fire company and First Northern Bank and Trust. In addition to toys, they will be accepting donations of diapers, cleaning supplies, hygiene products and canned goods. The items will be delivered to the Union Township, N.J., Police Department for its "Santa in Blue" Hurricane Sandy Toy Drive. Donations will be accepted until Dec. 10.
