On Saturday, Dec. 1, the Western Pocono Community Library will host a Garden Tea Party Commemorative Program with Jacqueline Mock of Kunkletown in a presentation of Beatrix Potter and Peter Rabbit. The library is located on Pilgrim's Way, Brodheadsville. This Garden Tea Party will be held indoors from 2-4 p.m. with delicious refreshments served.

This Garden Tea Party is being held to commemorate Mock's 30 years of speaking on a subject so close to her heart.Over 30 years ago, Jacqueline Mock became fascinated with the biography of Beatrix Potter. She began researching and learning everything she could about the amazing English author, illustrator, natural scientist and conservationist, best known for her imaginative children's books featuring animals such as those in "The Tale of Peter Rabbit," which celebrated the British landscape and country life. One small speaking engagement about Beatrix Potter at a local library near her home in New Jersey led to a 30-year experience as one of the world's most noted experts on the subject and resulted in one of her most cherished trips when personally invited to Beatrix Potter's home, Hill Top Farm, in England's Lake District, where she was able to meet and talk with some people who knew Potter. She has sp)oken to small children's groups, in schools and to large adult audiences everywhere.Almost 20 years ago, Western Pocono Community Library held a delightful Garden Tea Party at the library's old location on Bond Lane where Mock gave a special presentation on "The World of Peter Rabbit" and the author, Beatrix Potter. You are invited to come hear Mock tell the true story of how a lonely girl of the late 1800s found companionship with the woodland creatures in and around her home and brought them to life on paper which has endeared her characters for generations and will continue to endear generations to come.Tickets are limited so please call (570) 992-7934.
