On behalf of the "Carbon County Helps Sea Bright, N.J." project, I would like to formally thank the dozens of local businesses and hundreds of individuals who, with little or no asking, came forward to help the little town of Sea Bright after she was battered and beaten by Superstorm Sandy. You have reminded us, and the world, what it means to be Coal Region Proud!For the past week or so, my friends and I, who were involved in the CCHSBNJ project have been getting questions about where and how people can donate goods, or even donate again. Our program has ended (for now) but you absolutely can still help! Just know that certain items are still needed and some are not. Clothing, for instance, is NO LONGER NEEDED in many areas. Stories have aired on NPR, CBS, and other news outlets explaining that early relief efforts (Like ours) were a blessing and were welcomed, but now that power and gas have been restored to many areas, the majority of the requests are for cleaning supplies and (some) food.If you would like to donate, donate again, or are considering starting your own donation program, please contact directly, those whom you would like to help. Ask what, specifically, is needed, and when they need it. Base your efforts on that information, and your help will be well received, put to full use, and very appreciated.I haven't yet asked for public help, with an animal/pet/wildlife relief program I am working on, because there is still a lot of planning to do as far as supply lists and a timeline in which those supplies will be necessary. As with human donations, animal supplies came in strong and early.In the next few weeks, when those existing supply depots begin to dwindle, we will be able to offer a second wave of support.
