Crashes probed

State police at Lehighton reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.

A one vehicle crash occurred about 3:15 p.m. on Nov. 8 along SR209 in Polk Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Lucille M. Rex, 84, of Palmerton, was driving a 2004 Dodge Durango southbound and approaching Vixen Drive and proceeding up an incline of a hill while negotiating a right curve. At the crest of the hill Rex was blinded by the sun and lost control of the vehicle.The Dodge crossed over the road and crashed into a utility pole. After impact with the pole the vehicle spun around before coming to rest. Rex was injured and taken to the Palmerton hospital by West End ambulance for treatment of a minor injury. The Dodge had to be towed from the scene. She was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic, troopers said.A one vehicle crash was reported at 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, along Stone Hill Road, near Dogwood Lane, in Ross Township, Monroe County. Troopers said James R. Hageman, 26, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2004 Dodge Viper northbound and attempted to avoid debris that was on the roadway. The Dodge veered to the left causing Hageman to lose control.The Dodge traveled across the southbound lane and then back into the northbound lane and onto the berm and into a wooded area where it struck a tree on the passenger side.Hageman and his passenger, not identified by troopers, were not injured. Troopers cited Hageman for driving on roadways laned for traffic.A two vehicle crash occurred about 8:54 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, at the intersection of SR534 and Jonas Road, in Polk Township. Troopers said Tammy a. Kimball, 40, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2010 Lexus RX350 eastbound on 534 while Carine L. Avallone, 30, of Kunkletown, driving a 210 Mazda 5, proceeded through a posted stop sign on Jonas Road and entered the intersection.The Lexus struck the Mazda causing disabling damages to both vehicles. Avallone and her passenger, Jalina Tucker, 8, Kunkletown, and Kimball, were all not injured. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.Troopers cited Avallone for stop signs and yield signs.
