Hackash inducted into Hall of Fame

John Hackash of Lansford was inducted into the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Athletic Hall of Fame on September 28 for his outstanding contributions on the athletic fields. Hackash is a 1963 graduate of the Print Shop/Graphic Arts program at Thaddeus Stevens.

His athletic accomplishments include being a three-year starter for the Stevens basketball team, during which he averaged 15 points per game and was the team's leading rebounder, serving also as a co-captain in '63. He also participated in the Track and Field team as a high hurdler and a 440-yard runner.Before Stevens, Hackash played a major role on the 1959-60 Lansford High Black Diamond league championship team.Hackash is one of several former local athletes who have been inducted into the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Athletic Hall of Fame over the years. Among the others were: T. "Jug" McKeever ('54) from Summit Hill, Art George, Jr. ('57) from Palmerton, Joseph Holubek ('63) from Coaldale, and Jeffery Kantor ('62) from Tamaqua.In attendance at this year's induction was Austin Cseh, a 2008 graduate from Palmerton, who is currently continuing his career as a student-athlete at Thaddeus Stevens, and is contributing plenty of highlights on the football field.
